| Services - Bilal Foundation |
|
It all started during the 2005 earthquake. This calamity brought together a team of doctors, paramedics and friends at Bilal Hospital, Rawalpindi. They along with tents, medical and surgical equipment/supplies set up an operation theater and 50 bedded Bilal Field Hospital (BFH) at Hattian Bala, AJK to treat victims and patients.
Bilal Field Hospital (BFH) functioned for 17 months with its own human resource, equipment, power generation, medical supplies and rations etc and treated 59,929 patients before its final handing over to the Govt. of AJK on 31 March 2007. All expenses were borne by Bilal Foundation. This effort was acknowledged by the President of AJK in Muzaffarabad in May 2007 at a national ceremony. It was made possible only due to commitment of doctors and paramedics and generous support of friends and well wishers. This endeavor prompted continuity in public health through Bilal Foundation even after handing over the BFH. |
