Over 100 examined at Free Health Camp at Tumair

BILAL FOUNDATION ACTIVITIES: To bring about health awareness to the people in the region, Bilal Foundation in partnership with Wilson’s Pharmaceuticals and PharmEvo organized a Free Health Camp on Saturday 17th March, 2018 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Around 100 people attended the Free Health Camp conducted at Azm-e-Nau Girls School, Tumair. The event’s activities included two health awareness lectures and a range of free tests. The health lectures focused on risk factors and healthy lifestyle options to prevent kidney disease and Osteoporosis (bone disease). These Health awareness lectures were delivered by Dr. Zulfiqar Butt (Consultant Urologist & Transplant Surgeon at Bilal Hospital) and a guest speaker from Wilson’s Pharmaceuticals. There was a Q & A session after the lectures during which questions from the audience were answered by the guest speakers. Guest lecturers were concluded by refreshments and distribution of health literature on kidney disease.

After lectures free screening tests were offered from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Health screening tests included routine tests such as Blood test, Urine Test, Blood Pressure Check up, Sugar test, Height and Weight checkup. Other tests such as BMI/BMR (Cholesterol Checkup) and Bone Health Scans were also offered. More than 45 visitors had slightly abnormal test results and were referred to the doctor on spot who counseled them. This free health camp was the first of its kind in the region. The visitors benefited from health awareness lectures, free tests and counseling. To understand the health needs of this region, Bilal Foundation also gathered visitor’s feedback. Overall response was positive. Due to dearth of medical facilities in Tumair, visitors emphasized the need for a similar health camp in future that focused on a wide range of health issues such as women health, Bones and joint pain, Eyesight, common headache, GI tract diseases among others.
